Below are frequently asked questions about our professional pet care.

What does your visit include?

Our fee is based on the length of the visit. Clients have a variety of requests for what they would like their visit to include.  The visit is tailored to your preference. We walk, run, play, feed, water, scoop, etc. This is determined at our initial meeting so we know exactly what your pet needs to make his/her day.  At no additional charge, we provide mail and trash maintenance, plant watering, and light adjustments upon request while you're away.

Can you handle special needs and unique personalities?

We will customize a pet care program for your pet, taking into consideration the needs, health concerns, and temperament.

How do you leave updates after the walk/service?

The software system we use allows us to send notifications to you, via desktop or app.  Based on your preference, you will receive pictures and any pertinent information after the service has been completed.

Are you available on last-minute notice?

We will make every effort to accommodate last-minute requests, however, sometimes there may not be sitter available.

Will you take our dogs to a dog park?

For safety and insurance policies, we are unable to allow your dog in a dog park with other dogs.

Do you let the dogs interact with other dogs?

As a general rule, no.  Behaviors can vary depending on who is with a dog, therefore, we choose safety first.

What type of animals do you care for?

We care for dogs, cats, birds, fish, hamsters, gerbils, lizards, chinchillas, rabbits, ferrets, turtles, snakes, chickens, horses and other types of animals as agreed upon.

How do I pay for services?

All payments are made via our Client Portal once you have registered for your account.

Do you work on holidays?

Yes! Due to the high volume of demand on these days, services rendered are subject to a holiday fee.  Since time is limited, we HIGHLY recommend reserving your dates in advance as much as possible.  We typically are booked out 6+ months for all major holidays.

Can you administer medication to my pet?

Yes, we will administer oral and topical medications to your pet as per your instructions; injections are on a case by case basis.

Do you combine families for or offer pack walks?

For safety purposes and for the dogs’ enjoyment, walks are limited to dogs of the same owner.

What happens if my pet gets sick?

All clients fill out a Veterinary Release Form. This will authorize us to take your pet to the vet on your behalf, if we cannot reach you or your emergency contact.  We ask that you inform your vet that Critter Sitter of VA is your pet sitting service provider.

How long are the actual walks?

Duration of walks depend on weather, age and health of your dog. For example, for a 30 min booking you will receive 30 minutes of our time which will include a walk and when applicable, playtime or keeping your dog company.
